Security dawgs finish fourth in the Midwest

The “Security Dawgs” collegiate cyber defense team finished fourth March 29 at the Midwest Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition at Moraine Valley Community College. 

SIU Carbondale, which won the Illinois Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition in February, competed against the top teams from Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin, along with one “at-large” team from the region.  The ‘Security Dawgs’ are a registered student organization. 

The team is comprised of: Dorie Abrams, information systems technologies, senior with degree; Gary Clark, information systems technologies and criminal justice, senior; Imani Hudson, information systems technologies, senior; Josh Goodman, information systems technologies, junior; John Zachary Moore, business administration, graduate masters; Clint Mueller, computer science, senior; Daniel Vaughn, information systems technologies, senior, and Marcus Wood, information systems technologies, junior. Alternate team members were Calen Barker, information systems technologies, senior; Cody Lingle, information systems technologies, junior, and Jonathan Farmer, information systems technologies, sophomore. Tom Imboden, an assistant professor in the School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies, is faculty adviser. 

Northern Kentucky University won the event, with Southeast Missouri University finishing second and Baldwin Wallace University finishing third.
